Using Acupuncture or EFT to Naturally Quit Smoking
In the previous article Natural Ways To Quit Smoking methods to naturally quit smoking were discussed such as cold turkey, herbal remedies and hypnosis. These aren’t the only methods to quit smoking naturally. When you quit smoking you are attempting to remove your bodies chemical dependence on the chemicals found in cigarettes such as nicotine and all of the other artificial additives cigarette manufacturers add to their products. Methods such as nicotine patches and gum simply change the delivery method of how the body gets its nicotine fix. They get you off smoking, but make you dependent on the patch or gum instead. It would make sense to find a way to quit smoking that does not rely on any chemical delivery at all? If you see the sense in that perhaps you would like to try one of these methods to naturally quit smoking.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that uses needles inserted into meridian points in the body. From this TCM point of view your withdrawal symptoms are the results of impaired liver function caused by your tobacco addiction. Your liver will have become stimulated artificially by the chemicals in the tobacco and ceasing to smoke will temporarily mean that you experience a lack of liver energy. It is this drop in liver energy that causes your withdrawal symptoms.
Acupuncture stimulates the liver in order to make up for the lack of stimulation that has been caused by stopping smoking. This eases the withdrawal symptoms and eventually the liver function will return to normal.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is similar to acupuncture but has the advantage of being able to be applied by the smoker to themselves. Rather than insert needles into your body at specific meridian points you instead tap on them with your finger tips. Whilst doing this tapping you focus your attention on the anxiety associated with smoking withdrawal. As you carry out the tapping process you perform a series of mental exercises in order to focus your intent on your desire not to experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. This has a great de-stressing effect on the nervous system.
EFT only takes five minutes to learn and you can do it anytime and anywhere. Many practitioners the world over use EFT to help people suffering from anxiety, phobias and fears. EFT has been proven to be successful at relieving anxiety and it is due to this that EFT has become so effective at helping people quit smoking by helping them get through the withdrawal symptoms.
