Doctors are still studying this, but they believe that the highly active fat cells release large amounts of hormones such as insulin and estrogen that can be the catalyst to cancer development. Breast cancer risk can drop significantly with just an 8 lb weight loss, and this is true for other types of cancers as well.
- Lower Cholesterol Level
High levels of LDL ( bad cholesterol) circulating through your blood can deposit plaque in your arteries, narrowing them. If you are overweight you are more likely to have high LDL levels, which in turn can possibly lead to heart attack or stroke. Studies have proven that following a healthy diet with moderate exercise can help increase your HDL ( good cholesterol,) help prevent the deposits of LDL on our arty walls. So, cut back on the sugars, carbs and processed foods. Get out on your bike, talk a walk, or take a yoga class.
- Lower Blood Pressure
Plaque or buildup in your arteries, will result in your blood pressure being high. High blood pressure is called Hypertension, and it is not just a number your doctor gives you after putting on a cuff, and pumping it up. High blood pressure can lead to a thickening of your heart walls that leaves them stiff and prone to heart failure. You see as the walls thicken your heart has to work harder which can lead to kidney failure.
- Increased Risk For Heart Attacks
As mentioned above the plaque buildup, and wall thickening can result in dangerously narrowed arteries. So, when your coronary artery becomes completely blocked, it results in a cutting off the oxygen that your heart muscles require, and can lead to a heart attack with fatal results.
