Making Sure Your Child Is Safe In The Clothes They Wear

You need to make sure that clothing is safe for the type of temperature the child is in. Footwear is also important when thinking about safety during certain activities. Different countries have different laws about child clothing safety.
Childrens hoodies have been banned in the US if they have a drawstring attached. Children can get the string caught at the playground or wherever they are and it can trap them around the neck. There have been three recent prosecutions of clothing companies who have made hoodies for children with drawstrings in.
Prosecutions have been made against Kohl’s store, Maran and K.S Trading and hill Sportswear. Hills was responsible for a drawstring with a hoodies that strangled a child to death.
Childrens hoodies are really nice so just make sure you get one with no drawstring.
Footwear can also lead to accidents and fatalities if it is unsuitable for what the child is doing. To make sure your child does not fall whilst climbing, boots should be worn. Shoes with grips should be used on slippery surfaces.
During sleep the right clothes should be worn. Material which is baggy enough to ride up can suffocate very young children. Tight clothes should be worn in bed so no movement occurs in the night. Don’t let the cuffs or collar be too tight however.
Appropriate clothes should be worn in very hot or cold temperatures. in the sun hats should be worn and heat reflecting clothes. In the cold it is important to use layers and keep the extremities covered with a hat and gloves.
This advice will help you to dress your child safely at keep them out of the way of unnecessary risk caused by their clothes.
